Born in 1942 at Tozeur, Youssef Seddik is a Tunisian anthropologist and a philosopher. In 1966, he achieved a master’s degree in philosophy,  as well as, a degree in French literature and  civilization. The following year, he obtained a diploma of specialized studies on the subject of “determination of desire and liberty of love according to Spinoza and Avicenne”. From 1971 to 1977,  Seddik taught in the University of Paris III. During this period he presided at a publishing company specialized in books for a younger generation .He was also a journalist for the Tunisian newspaper La Presse between 1975 and 1983.

In 1988 he recieved an advanced studies diploma in Hellenic language from the University of Paris III and a DEA on Koran’s studies from the school of higher studies in social sciences.

Mr. Youssef Seddik has published several books and translations dealing with the Islamic heritage.
