After a long series of resignations within the party, Emna Mnif, spokesperson of Afek Tounes came out on Express FM (private Tunisian radio station) and confirmed that nobody quit their position in Afek Tounes. All those who declared their resignation or were rumored to resign are back at their jobs within the party.

Business News reported earlier this week that several members of the party had quit their position after quarrels with their colleagues. However, the party preferred to not publish an official statement about it, even as Mustapha Mezghenni confirmed his resignation on air on Mosaique FM.

According to Business News, this quarrel began with the recent membership of Yassine Ibrahim, former Minister of Transport under Beji Caed Essebsi’s interim government, which has created some tensions in the party. Some members of Afek Tounes were also interested in forming a coalition. Business News reports that Emna Mnif in particular was interested in joining forces with the Modernist Democratic Pole (PDM). Yet, they were confronted with a large refusal from the president and Yassine Ibrahim.

Emna Mnif, however, spoke on Express FM a few days later to confirm that there has been no official resignation within the party and that everything is back to normal now. She stated that the fights they had are only “healthy” fights.

Tuniscope (Tunisian news website) also contacted Mondher Manei, a member of the directing committee at the party, who confirmed that every member is back to his position. But the party has still released no official statement.
