A Tunisian-Italian “Grand Gala” was held last weekend in the Municipal Theater of Tunis to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Italian unification.

A large audience came to enjoy an eclectic and enticing program involving star dancers from Rome Opera House. Henda Ben Chaâbane, Tunisian soprano, tenor Hassen Doss, and maestro Bassem Makni took part in the event.

The opening piece was a piano concerto performed by Maestro Sergio La Stella, conductor of the Rome Opera House orchestra, presenting a symphony by Nino Rota and a Frederic Chopin concerto.

Hend Ben Chaabane performed Giuseppe Verdi’s Bolero di Elena and Giacomo Puccini’s L’Aria di Calaf.
