The Tunisian national football team will meet Ghana in the quarter-final of the African Cup of Nations Franceville stadium tonight at 8:00pm CET in Gabon.

The national team finished the first round in second place with 6 points after beating Morocco (2-1) and Niger (2-1) and losing to the host country Gabon (1-0). Tunisia has not met Ghana since the first round of the African cup of 1963 when they tied (1-1).

The Tunisian team saw the dismissal of Adel Chedli last Tuesday after a disagreement with coach Sami Trabelsi for not involving him in the team selection during the three first matches. They will also play without the help of Anis Bousaidi, who injured his calf.

Meanwhile, preparations for the match are in full swing. Nizar Khenfir, the assistant coach of the Tunisian team, said that the technical staff has been reviewing Ghana’s first three matches of the tournament with the players to analyze Ghana’s strategy and to evaluate its strengths and weaknesses.

Though the Tunisian Confederation has appealed to the African Confederation of Football for permission to wear black armbands during the match – as an expression of solidarity with the Egyptian victims of the Port Said stadium riots – they have yet to receive official authorization.
