Wissem Hosni, the Tunisian athlete competing in the Men’s Marathon event, completed today’s event, finishing the race in 71st place.

Hosni started the event placing higher, positioning himself in 63rd place as he cleared the fifth kilometer. The race saw his position ebb and flow, peaking at 59th place at the 15th kilometer. As the race lagged on, however, his energy seemed to dwindle and he continued to fall in the ranking until he finished with a time of 2:28:43.

Though Hosni did not walk away the victor, Tunisia marked its most successful Olympic performance in modern history this year, pulling in three medals from two athletes.
