Tunis is once again being swept by a revolution – a dance revolution!  Join what Facebook now assures us will be thousands of revelers as they perform the “Harlem Shake” Friday at 3:00 p.m. in front of the Ministry of Education, and Saturday at 3:00pm on Habib Bourguiba Avenue. Festivities continue late into the night with a performance by Saber Rebai at the Hotel Golden Tulip Carthage and “Interfact,” an electronic dance party hosted by student group FNO Tunisia at Hotel Barcelo, Carthage. For something a little different, drop by Le Plug in La Marsa for an evening with Setta Zeet, a local funk and jazz band.

For the urbane crowd, Tahar Haddad Culture Club will be wrapping up its month-long Cafe Culture series with a poetry reading and open mic session in honor of Tunisian poet Aboukacem Chebbi.  He will be celebrating his 104th birthday posthumously.  In La Marsa, a photography exhibition will be running at Espace Mille Feuilles, while Efesto will host “X-Mimi: Evolution,” a visual arts show described as pop surrealist. In Belvedere, a new collection entitled “Forms” will be on display from March 5-18 at El Teatro Aire Libre.

it is so good that some tunisian children can make their own video of rythmic movements and that some of them can dress in costumes. I am so proud of our tunisian youth. Some of them shook there bodies so well. I am sure it will be very useful for them in their lives. And remember western music is linked to african music so it belongs to all. I hope some of them go on to get jobs as movers and shakers!
