Two suspected militants were shot during a morning raid in Tunis. A further 16 have been arrested.
Unconfirmed reports have suggested that this morning’s raid was carried out in connection with the March insurgency in Ben Guerdane.
A statement published by the Ministry of the Interior, described a “complex” operation that commenced at around 8 a.m. According to the statement, security forces raided a home in the Mnihla neighborhood in the northern part of Ettadhamen, in the Ariana Governorate of the capital, (itself made up of four Governorates). The report described two armed men who were shot during operations.
In addition to arresting a further 16 suspects, a large amount of weapons were also confiscated.
The Ministry of the Interior have confirmed that the operation remains ongoing, with specialized units sweeping the area for signs of further activity.
