A Different Perspective: Tunisia, is a short film by British-Tunisian, Rayane Jemaa.
Eighteen year old, Jemaa has been visiting his family in La Cagna, Tunis for many years and made his first film here in 2011.
Shot in the northern cities of Hammamet and Tunis, as well as the more southerly towns of to El Djem and Mahdia, Jemaa says he wanted to focus on the way Tunisians live their daily lives.
Jemaa drew particular inspiration from his grandmother, who grew up in the Tunis medina. The film has added poignancy for the family, as Jemaa’s grandmother has begun to lose her sight. Consequently, Jemaa wanted to capture many of the sights that his grandmother had enjoyed seeing as a child.
Jemaa dedicates the film to his Grandmother.
