Biography: Elena Lesley recently joined Tunisia Live as a story editor. Prior to moving to North Africa in January 2013, she spent a combined six months in Rwanda and Cambodia conducting research for her Masters thesis on sites of memory for the Division of Global Affairs at Rutgers University. She also serves as the Publications Coordinator for Rutgers' Center for the Study of Genocide and Human Rights. From 2004-2005 and 2008-2009, Elena worked in Cambodia as a Henry Luce Scholar and Fulbright Fellow, respectively, writing for the country's oldest English-language newspaper and conducting a blogging project monitoring the United Nations-backed Khmer Rouge tribunal. Her work appeared in international publications such as Granta.com and The Huffington Post. Between stints in Cambodia, she served as a reporter for the St. Petersburg Times/Tampa Bay Times, Florida's largest newspaper, focusing on political and legal issues. Elena holds a BA in Political Science from Brown University.
