Ya atik essaha Adel! This is exactly the truth! Education and opportunity lie at the root of all these issues...lack of education and lack of opportunity has left all these young males feeling helpless and hopeless, and they have fallen into the hands of some guys who are using them as puppets in their own ignorant quest for a dollar! Those areas you mentioned, many suburbs in and around Tunis, like Jebel Ahmer, all need deep reforming!

Though I agree with you that "Democracy" is very far in Tunisia, I do not agree with you in the banning of Ansar ash-Sharia'ah being undemocratic. First, the fact that they did not get a permit was due to provoke the government into a violent response. Why didn't they get a permit? laziness? Also, for a Democracy to work, you have to have the parties running to believe in Democracy. Ansar Ash-Sharia'ah has been very clear they do not care about Democracy. Why should we give them rights when it is clear they would not give those rights to anyone else if they were the ones who had power. It is also very clear that Ansar ash Shari'ah would have no problem using violence and war to get power. Our stupid Islamic government wanted to use the salafists as a weapon of oppression against the Tunisian people, like Iran uses Hezboallah. However, when it became clear the salafists are not willing to share power, but take power. That is why the hypocritical Muslims are out to eliminate them.

I can’t agree more with you ‘cause these fanatics are blinded by their phony religious zealousness without fathoming the spirit of Islam. Violence has never been the answer to the ills of our society throughout the ages. I only hope that the change of attitude of the authorities regarding lawless extremists will not tip the balance back to six decades of arbitrary arrests, torture and disappearances! What Tunisia needs right now is: jobs and more jobs, higher wages, better schooling, decent housing in districts such as “attathamun “, “Mallaseen” and so forth…

Abu Shu'aib

Please see the comment below from M. Omar. It sums up exactly why Ansar ash-Shari'ah should have no place in Tunisian society.

This is a step in the right direction. The Government can't just pretend that they don't exist since their goal is to cause as much trouble as they can.

Things change. You can see "soft and hard porn" on TV and the computer now. The "shock" has worn off most of the world. If it offends you then don't watch it.

kinda like the Salifast then and no one calls them mentally ill. Although that would probably be a goo description for their manipulative aggressive behaviour
