The Founders

Tunisia Live is a post revolution initiative that aims to reach out to the world and provide its readers with independent, verified, and comprehensive information. The founders are highly skilled Tunisians who graduated from American and European universities with diverse backgrounds and training including media, economics, medicine, education and engineering.

Ramla Jaber 

Since the Tunisian revolution, Ramla has worked with several international channels such as CBS, CNN and ETV (South Africa) to cover the situation in Tunisia. Before that, Ramla worked for HR Access, a subsidiary of Fidelity Group, as a Communication Officer. In 2004, Ramla volunteered in the NGO Section of the Economic and Social Council of the UN in New York where she was responsible for the applications to the consultative status of NGOs with the UN. Ramla studied in Tunisia until high school when she moved to France and ultimately graduated from the Skema Business School in the French Riviera. Ramla also studied abroad at the University of Florida in Gainesville.

Youssef Gaigi 

Youssef Gaigi, is the Operations Manager of Global Productions and Tunisia Live, a media production house specialized in news gathering and television documentaries, and the only English speaking news provider in Tunisia. It is now viewed as one of the most successful new media organizations in the country.
Youssef is a Fulbright Scholar, holding a Management Degree from the University of Manouba, and an MBA from Boston University. During his studies, Youssef was a member of AIESEC – International Student Organization – reaching leadership positions both nationally and internationally. After working in countries in Africa, Europe, and the Americas, Youssef resolved to move back to Tunisia. He played an active role in the Tunisian Revolution, providing information to news outlets around the world. He was hired by Al Jazeera English as their Tunisia producer, and he also managed the Network’s operations in Libya, during the fall of Tripoli.

 

Zied Mhirsi 

Zied Mhirsi is a 33-year-old Tunisian radio host, doctor and global health professional. Zied hosts a weekly radio program:  Netshow , on Express FM, a popular Tunisian radio network. The show explores political trends and social media and was the only program that brought forward the voices of the Tunisian bloggers prior to the revolution. For more than six years, Zied has had one of the most popular blogs in Tunisia called Zizou From Djerba. With thousands of blog posts that regularly receive more than 10,000 page views a month, Zied’s blog has served as a forum for independent debate since 2006.  Since the revolution, Zied has worked extensively with English-speaking media, helping to produce shows and acting as a spokesman for Tunisia’s young people. Zied was profiled on 60 Minutes, walking Bob Simon and the audience through the Tunisian revolution, examining the role that new media played and elaborating what lay in store for Tunisia’s future. He has also worked with CNN, CBS News, BBC, Al Jazeera English, Australia Channel 9, and ETV in South Africa. Zied is a doctor by training and has worked in senior positions with the Tunisian HIV/AIDS Association and the Tunisian Medical Students Association. He holds two masters degrees in public health from the American University in Beirut and the University of Washington. He is a Fulbright Alumni and previously served on the faculty of the University of Washington.
