Hotel Ariha

30 August 2011 | 1 Comment

The Hotel Ariha (White Building) is located in a central, yet quiet spot close to downtown Tunis

Hotel Ariha, located on Rue de Palestine in a quiet yet central location in Tunis, is a functional and comfortable mid-range hotel for guests looking to experience the city of Tunis. The Ariha is not a package resort and is made for business travelers, students, and independent tourists looking to explore Tunis on a budget.

The Ariha is located in the area known as “Jeanne d’Arc”, close to Place Pasteur and Park Belvedere in Tunis. An easy landmark to go by is “Place d’Afrique” (Africa Square), which is located directly across the street. It is a 5 minute/1.5 Dinar cab ride or a 25 minute walk to Avenue Habib Bourguiba downtown and relatively convenient to other popular Tunis locales. The only issue with the location is that a mosque is nearby, so expect to hear the call to prayer five times a day.

The staff at the Ariha are welcoming and helpful. They are able to arrange excursions in Tunisia for you and will speak English, French, Italian and Arabic. If there is a problem with your room, they respond to it immediately.

The hotel provides a breakfast in it’s tea room every morning. This breakfast is not quality unless you want to eat plain yogurt, mystery meat and cheese. The breakfast was our biggest complaint. Your best bet for breakfast is to walk to one of the neighboring cafes in the area.

The rooms themselves are clean and comfortable, if a bit small. Beds in the single room are your standard twin size mattresses, in the double room used as a single, a full-sized mattress takes its place. The triple has three twin beds placed into a slightly larger room and feels more cramped than the standard rooms. All rooms will come with air conditioning, satellite TV, phone and a balcony.

The bathrooms are better than expected. Showers are large and comfortable with strong water pressure. Bathrooms have always been spotless and function without a problem. The maids replace the towels daily.

Internet is available at the hotel but for a fee. 5 Dinar/day gets you an ethernet cable that you can use in your room to connect. Unfortunately, there is no wireless as of yet. There is also a computer downstairs for travelers who did not bring their personal computers.

Parking and a meeting room is also available for those who need it.

Overall, for cleanliness, price, location and service, Tunisia Live is able to recommend the Ariha as a solid choice of a mid-range hotel in Tunis. It is certainly cleaner, cheaper and the staff more helpful than other similar hotels in and around downtown.

The room rates at the Ariha will not break the budget. The rates are as follows:

Single Room: 55 Dinar/night

Double Room (used as Single): 67 Dinar/night

Double Room: 86 Dinar/night

Triple Room: 105 Dinar/night

Check-in Time: 12:00 PM

Check-out Time: 12:00 PM

Pets: Not Allowed

Visa and Mastercard Accepted.
