Mohamed Lamine Chakhari was born on May 17, 1957 in Foussana, Kasserine, and is a member of Ennahdha, a center-right Islamist party within the governing coalition of the Constituent Assembly.

Chakhari holds a doctorate in mechanical engineering, and is a professor at the National School of Engineers in Tunis. He is the CEO of an industrial company and the head of its mechanical engineering department.

He served as Minister of Industry, Commerce, and Handcrafts in the former Prime Minister Hamadi Jebali’s interim government.
